Happy Halloween/Samhain!

(Click for bigger bats.)

✗ We used to sing this in music class in elementary school every Halloween:

It always freaked me out.

✗ A Halloween essential:

Modest Müssorgsky - A Night On Bald Mountain (arranged by Rimsky-Korsakov)

Most people know this piece from Fantasia. Or possibly as the music that played when the Devil came to Cicely, Alaska. Or from a million billion other things. While Disney imposed the happy ending of "Ave Maria" to their animation, the Mussorgsky composition was written about the Witches' Sabbath (celebrated on St. John's Eve, in June) and invokes the dark god Chernobog (yes, Gaiman fans, that dude).

✗ Some more appropriate music:

Faith and the Muse - "The Unquiet Grave"
(A folk/goth rock re-working of a traditional folk song.)

✗ Just watched the first episode of American Horror Story. Yeah, I'm definitely gonna keep going with this show.

Also watched Evil Dead (for the first time) and The Invisible Man this weekend. Yeah, I'm in the mood.

where's neil when you need him?, american horror story, music, film
