Because I have nothing coherent to say about last night's SPN, how about a picspam instead?
Warning: I know Bobby and Cas were in this episode, and that was cool (I quite like the development in Cas's arc - yay, grey areas!), but this picspam does not include either of them because my squee for the western storyline is too all-consuming.
Also, I'm well aware that these caps are too wide for my layout but I have no interest in resizing. Feel free to style=mine or format=light if you so desire.

Dean geeking out over the Old West is a thing of beauty. And, even though I've never been much of a Star Trek fan, his geekiness over that as well was too delightful to deny.
What do you want to bet Dean has been thinking about this, hoping for a chance to go back to Colt's time ever since Cas first zapped them into the past in 4.03? He was so adorably eager once he found Colt's journal and his little plan clicked into place.

Extreme closeup of doom. Offscreen, phoenix dude dies just from Dean's glare. Luckily he comes back to life by the time the camera flips back to him, otherwise this would be a much shorter episode. (Speaking of, prior to the parcel delivery, was I the only one thinking the phoenix guy might have risen from the ashes after Dean shot him? I mean, that is the myth. And we know there are five things the Colt can't kill, yet we don't know what all five of those creatures are yet. So, yeah, I wondered if phoenix guy simply might have survived all those years and that that would be the lynch pin in their plan - that even if they collected the ashes, they'd never be able to use them. Yeah, okay, convoluted notion IS convoluted.)
Meanwhile! Sam stands around in the background looking pretty. Also, another look at the brilliant set design. Nice inclusion of red and green in the mostly neutral landscape.
