a so-called update of my so-called life

This afternoon, I was treated to a few minutes of watching Chippy, err, the chipmunk who lives in our yard (is cleverly named, no?) poke around on the back patio. He (or she, I don't know why I've ascribed a gender to the little critter) is the cutest damn thing ever. SO wee. That long, teeny, striped tail makes me melt a thousand times over. Shhh, don't tell my cats.

I was reading some more of the latest issue of Supernatural Magazine [which albeit fun, could seriously use some 1.) better writing 2.) better editing 3.) basic fact-checking]. In the first few pages, Kripke addresses the issue of whether or not Dean has been playing second fiddle to Sam and his story arc. Which I didn't even know *was* an issue. But anyroad, I just wanted to share this quote from the article for posterity... because I just love that madevilgeniusbastard, Eric Kripke.

I'm sorry, but I don't spend a lot of time worrying about how to intertwine Dean with the demonic conspiracy. I am so much more interested in how a troubled, imperfect, flesh-and-blood guy like Dean deals with either trying to save, or destroy, his own brother. I don't know about you, but in The Lord Of The Rings, Samwise is just as fascinating a character as Frodo, if not more so, precisely because he doesn't have some portentous prophecy on his shoulders, but because all he has to rely upon is his emotion, love and loyalty. I think that's powerful and relatable and human (or Hobbit, but you get the idea).

Also, I heart Samantha Ferris and her working class background.

Apologies to the non-SPN fans if I seem to be talking too much about it lately. Life, of late, has whittled down to work and the desperate need to escape from work once I'm home. SPN has become the #1 escape destination of choice. Well, besides music, but music is always there. At work, the transition into the new system is more or less complete, to the point where I've become bored with it. But the hours are longer and I'm constantly running around helping co-workers who haven't acclimated to the new programs as well. On one hand, we have more down time so things feel less rushed. But on the other hand, I'm exhausted all the time. On the other other hand (I fail at math and anatomy both), the overtime pay is pretty sweet.

Speaking of music: anyone here familiar with Fleet Foxes? I've been digging them lately. They're one of the few artists who've managed to filter past my all-Lanegan/all-SPN listening habits. I still haven't gotten the new Death Cab or Portishead or Martha Wainwright records. And there's new Coldplay soon too, right? I'm having trouble working up the enthusiasm for that based on the song used in the Viva La Vida commercials (also, the title seems kinda dumbass). New Aimee Mann comes out this week. From what I've heard it's a return to form (one of those phrases that always sounds a tad suspect), which is a potential relief as The Forgotten Arm felt flat and weak compared to her previous albums. Oh, and new Beck on the horizon! Am loving "Chemtrails"-such a summery song.

I have the Lost finale taped, but haven't worked up the courage to watch it. Then again, it took me nearly two weeks to watch the finale of House (which made me CRY like a little, little girl) and that's a show that has never really disappointed me. But then I never really loved House as much as I loved Lost. Y'know, the higher the climb, the harder the fall.

Speaking of Lost though, I don't recall seeing these pictures of Naveen rocking out before. *paws*
ETA: now with video. Look at those arms, nngh.

I've had There Will Be Blood from Netflix for close to three weeks now. I'm Not There arrived today too. Still haven't seen the new Narnia or Indian Jones, or Sex In The City. Want to, just haven't yet. Feel like doing fuck all, all weekend. *yawns and stretches* Such a bum.
