TV, books and much in the way of blather )
Eep, excellent one! Hmm, I'm not sure I have that song though. Selt-titled album, right? *hunts around collection*
Just the way Jeff says the name itself.... *shivers* And I get squirmy listening to Gabriel Byrne's reading, for perhaps the wrong reasons. hee. Love that brogue. I must admit, although I'm a fan of Poe, I bought it entirely for Jeff. But all the rest is so wonderful, it been wholly worthwhile.
Woot! I think you'd like her stories. She's a little bit of everything--charming, sad, dark and light, absurd yet easy to relate to, always sharp and thought-provoking. Modern adult fairy tale. She's young (I think early 30s?), and only has a three books at this points: two collections of short stories (The Girl in the Flammable Skirt and the recently-published Willful Creatures) and one novel, An Invisible Sign of My Own. Any of those would be a fine starting point--I can't truly say one's stronger than another. You can read some of her stories here. I'm not sure if those are the best for an introduction... but they're free. ;)
Actually, I wonder if she's a Burton fan, because she has another story about a boy with keys for hands that reminds me a little of Edward. Hmm.

Yes, it's on the self-titled album. I only have it on cassette, though. It's REALLY creepy though, I don't often listen to it. Heh.

Hee! Same here. ;) I'm a HUGE Poe fan, he's probably my absolute favorite writer if I had to name only one. So the combination of Jeff reading Poe made me happy. I also like Christopher Walken's reading of "The Raven." "As of... someone... gently rapping... rapping at my... CHAMBAH DO-AH!" Hee. ;)
Thanks for all the Aimee Bender links! I'll definitely check them out when I get a chance. :)

*intrigued* I couldn't find the album or song, but now I'm not sure I want to if it is that creepy... and yet I do. Hee.
*giggles* I LOVE Walken's reading! It doesn't fit the atmosphere of Poe's poem exactly, but it's so damn funny to hear his diction.
No problem. :)
