Hoping my sister gets to see this...

...before she heads off to work. So my Supervisor called in saying she would be late. To expect her at 1am. The Sup on duty was cool with staying until then, since he handles the 4:30pm to 1am shift anyway. However, she called back and said that she would not be coming in at all. Which is a problem as there is no other sup to cover if the overnight sup can't come in for some reason. Our Sup on duty, Ricky, attempted to tough it out but by 2:30am gave up. Coming by my desk he gave me his username and password and informed me that he was putting me in charge and going home. Since he does need to go home, sleep and be ready for work tomorrow at 4:30pm.

I can understand this, going home at 7am means fighting traffic, getting home much later than he'd like, have to go to bed first thing, get less then 8 hours sleep, get ready for work again, and fight the pre-rush hour home traffic back to work. Plus he is salary, so he's not going to get any overtime for it.

So here I am, at the Supervisor's desk, in charge of the Night Shift until someone arrives to let me off duty. I worry that Ricky might get into trouble over this, and I hope that won't be the case as I see this as a great opportunity for me. I can say, "When the Supervisor had to leave, I was the one tapped to be put in charge." Just think how that's going to sound on my next interview. Needless to say, I feel the need to crow about it.
