For the uninitiated, The Lords of Midnight was just about one of the best games ever released for the Spectrum. I loved it, and absolutely played it to death. Its creator, Mike Singleton, was one of my heroes. (And one of Louise Mensch's too: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/4599435/Ex-MP-mourns-eighties-computer-whizz.html) He died in October of this year. And I was lucky enough to meet him back in the mid-nineties. In fact he was one of my clients when I was a trainee chartered accountant in Chester. To get to do his company's audit, I had to beg the manager, and she only let me do it after I agreed to do all her really crap jobs for a month. Still I got to do the audit and spent rather more time than I should have talking to Mike about Midnight, Tolkien and stuff. He was a really nice bloke.
