The Big Queen

Minneapolis Deep Service in town for the annual volleyball tournament at FoPaCoCo.  After the initial contact with Jason back in January, he tore his left gastrocnemius leading me to think he may not bake it after all.  Good thing, he and the team were still able to make it down.  I use their visit as my yearly Spring Cleaning event and the place was in top condition just in time for their arrival.
I'd kicked myself in the butt because earlier in the week I'd volunteered to take over an overnight shift for our Indian team while their location was undergoing a full network upgrade.  Thinking I'd be coming from a trivia night I arranged to have Bill work from 8pm-11 and I'd take over until 7am.  When I found out the team was still coming in I realized I'd not be able to hang out with them at the bars a all - SUCK!
Still, the weekend turned out to be great; Friday night Norris and I went to the Third Friday open house at the Third Degree Glass Factory full of glass art, demonstrations, drinks and a surprising number of families with children. Dinner at my favorite Vietnamese, Pho Grand and stopped in at Just Johns for a few minutes to see Jason and say hi.  Had to leave after only 20 min because Norris was tired (poor man has NO endurance after a work day).
Saturday got a ride in then spent the day at the tournament taking a brief break for some Kaldi's and Pier1 with Norris.   Back home in time for overnight work and back to the final day of tournament play at 8:30am on Sunday.  Okay, doesn't sound like such a great weekend on paper, but I really like nothing more than watching sports live, especially short matches in tournament format more than one long game (baseball/football).  I'm really getting excited to get back into tournament competition although the big favorite tournament of mine is the same weekend as Dallas - BOO!
Oh and the Big Queen reference?  Last night Olga asks where so many people are sleeping in my condo.
"Two on the futon bed, an aero mattress in the master and the big queen (*pause as I laugh inwardly*) is pushed into the corner to make floorspace.  There's enough room"
I'm guessing Vic has figured out this is a gay team if not a gay tournament because a little later she was laughing and remarked that when I said "big queen" she thought for a second.... and I laughed in agreement saying I made space for the big platform boots and bouffant wig stands.

In final weekend news, the other foster family for Precious has smaller dogs and didn't like the way precious sort of ran over them in her enthusiasm.  So it looks like I'll be getting her back this week.
YAY!  But still, I didn't miss her.  As I always say, I don't miss people or in this case, dogs.
