Commuters should expect major delays on Metro's Red Line this morning, officials said, while crews check a report of smoke on the tracks at Metro Center. In addition, power is out at the Dupont Circle, Farragut North, Farragut West and Shaw stations, where trains are still moving, but the fare card machines, elevators and escalators may not be working.

The orange line malaise has spread to the red line (and the green line too)! I can report that all three escalators are indeed out at Dupont South, as I walk by the station on the way to pick up my morning bagel.

I don't say it enough, but . . . so glad I walk to work. And if it's not fixed by tonight, no big deal for me to walk to Chinatown, even if it's 112 degrees. I hope it's fixed by tomorrow afternoon, however, because I can't exactly walk to Gaithersburg, and Mike coming into the city to fetch me would be insane, with Pride going on this weekend. Maybe I can plead with Charles to get me to Bethesda after we have lunch Saturday.

Okay, well, apparently, part of the problem is Pepco: In addition, a power outage at a Pepco substation on 10th Street NW has cut electricity to about 10,000 customers in the center city, including Pepco's own headquarters on 9th Street, and at several Metro stations near downtown.

I downloaded two more songs last night. "American Boy" (Estelle, featuring Kanye West) and "Misery Business," by Paramore. And the other day, I picked up "Beautiful" by Meshell Ndegeocello. Where did I hear all of these songs? So You Think You Can Dance. Hey, I admit I have no cred. I'd rather have no cred than wear any cred I have like a badge of superiority anyhow. I like what I like.
