No seriously, I meant it with the whole "It's too hot!" thing:In Fresno County, where the temperature topped 105 Monday for the ninth day in a row, the coroner said at least 10 people had died of heat-related causes since Friday. County Coroner Loralee Cervantes said several of the dead were elderly people who were found in sweltering homes.
- I have so found my next phone. HDSPA/3G, 2.0 megapixel camera, microSD slot, and QVGA display in a flip phone that isn't, to my eyes, butt-ugly. I'm sold. There are a couple other phones I'm kinda keeping my eye on, but I know, and like, Motorola, so I'll likely stick with it, and I doubt they'll ever release my beloved MING/A1200 in the US, so the RAZR MAXX it is. And it's about goddamned time they updated the tired RAZR line, I dont care if they HAVE sold 50 million of the lil bastards!

- I can't be the only person that's more than mildly freaked out by things like body-implantable RFID chips and even more capable wireless dots loaded with information, surely?

- I understand and applaud the need for progress, really, I do... But don't some things just seem like they'd be a bit of a pain in the ass, even when compared with relatively antiquated but tried-and-true methods? Do we really need a Visa-enabled Monopoly set? :s

- My spoiled ass is asking for (and likely getting, considering my little sister's birthday gift this year) a nice little digital camera for my birthday. Any thoughts on this model, or similar cameras? Sure, it's three months away, but that just means plenty of time for it to go on sale, right?

- I am quite pleased about this whole Zune development, even if it does come from Microsoft. I'm not a fan of the iPod, nor frankly of any other device out there right now that's comparable, but I do want decent mp3 players to be much more common. Anything that encourages competition in that regard is welcomed by me, particularly anything that might force Apple out of the complacency that can often beset a company that becomes dominant with an iconic, best-selling device. (RAZR, you've had your mention already, kindly sit down.) What was the last big iPod innovation? A pedometer? Adding video to a DAP? OooOOOoh, revolutionary, really. Shaving a few millimeters here and there isn't easy, I'm sure, but it's not innovating, either.
(That said, if Apple releases a nice 120GB player with a virtually unchanged form factor, I'd likely ask for one for Christmas. I want my whole library with me dangit, 20GB is not enough! 60GB is still not enough! Rahhhh! The only PMPs out there with enough capacity are friggin bricks, sadly.)
