Rubber Solstice
I've just come in from gardening and, while doing that, had one of *those* ideas. I wonder whether anyone in filk has tried to rewrite a well-known album for some alternate context. (My personal definition of well-known tends to be pop or rock from the 60s and 70s, diminishing over the following decades. YMMV.)
Thoughts about a different context include worlds from fantasy and science fiction, worlds from mythology, different historical times, or contexts created from the filker's own imagination.
There are talented-enough performers who could probably do this as a set of parodies. For me, the idea would be to take the mood, theme, and subject matter and try to write original songs that borrowed from that while fitting into the new setting.
I don't have a specific pairing that recommends itself to me but I'm thinking about it. ...or maybe this is an effect of those hours in the sun. **shrug**
