Author’s Assertion philleegirl April 6 2008, 16:25:16 UTC
And so ends the saga of Emily Gibbs. When I started writing this I had no idea that it would snowball as it has, but it has been a blast to write. The characters have surprised me at every turn. I could probably write a few dozen more stories, but I think here is a good place to stop to wrap everything up in some nice purple (for Emily) paper and put a big black (for Abby) bow on the top of it ( ... )

You did a great job. I'm sorry to see it end, but you did a fantastic job. I hope you'll continue to write, even though it won't be this series.

*hugs*

Thanks, hun. Don't worry, I'm incapable of not writing. Well, I do tend to get writer's block, but I'm always writing something!

*hugs back*

I write for the same reason I breathe. If I didn't didn't, I would die. Lot of truth to it. I stopped writing for about a year after some issues. Mainly the fact that the man who encouraged and sometimes even forced my writing was abusive. I love him, but it caused pain. Didn't want any of that. I finally started again last week. No theology yet, but I'm working on a couple pieces of CSI NY & Miami FF. I'm hoping that NCIS will be next. It feels so good to write.

YAY!! I hope to read some of your writing. I'd really like to read the CSI:NY stories, esp if they are Danny/Lindsey or Stella/Mac.

I do understand the problems with someone helping you write becoming abusive. Hopefully, yours wasn't physical as well as mental.

Well, it's at the Beta's right now. When I get it back, I'll hope to post it. It is Danny/Lindsay. I'm afraid the fluffiness may make it a bit OOC, but it's my first fic, so that's okay. Assuming you saw the most recent episode, you know what happened with Lindsay's birthday. I didn't feel like it was completely dealt with, so this is my idea of how Danny dealt with it. ;)

Thankfully, he was just manipulative, controlling, good at guilting and verbally running you over. Things like that. I left, and have only seen him once, since. I had already agreed to help with the church's VBS before I left. I had to fulfill that commitment, and being that he was the pastor, he was there. I managed to be civil, and incredibly thankful to have left the church. (Due partly to him, partly to the congregation.) Everyone's actions just confirmed that I was right to have left.

Oh, yes, that scene had so much potential! I'll be so mad if they break up D/L. They really have amazing potential.

Some people just amaze me! ANd not in a good way.

I posted it over here, if you're interested. Well, the first chapter at least.

Yes, indeed.

...Wow. Just ... wow.

This was so beautiful and so sad all at the same time. I am so upset to see this end; I thought for sure there were two left, not just one!

I don't even know if I can gather anything coherent to say at the moment... I can't believe little Emily is all grown up and getting married (!) and the flashbacks were a great way to see some of their lives that we didn't get to see before. But!~ Fornell?! You killed him?! And how did he die?? I couldn't figure it out =(

The scene at the end with Gibbs talking to newborn Emily had me in tears... so heartfelt and so perfectly Gibbs...

*sigh* ... I am sad. I have to tell you one more time how wonderful this has been; I've loved every minute, even the scary ones. Thank you so much for taking us on this ride with you. I am going to miss this fic way too much.

*Hugs* Thank you so much for sticking with me through the whole thing. You've been a huge support.

The flashbacks are called vignettes that I couldn't figure out how to fit anyplace else.

He was killed by a drive-by shooter that was hired to kill the man (I'm thinking someone important in the Gov) that he was having dinner with. Joe Spano played a character that died this way on Shark.

The scene with Gibbs and baby!Emily was my favorite, so I'm THRILLED you liked it.

I'm rather sad that it is over, but at least it is finished... And Emily and company will make a guest appearance in my next series!

*Hugs back!* I am glad that I was able to give you support =) I'm usually quite the lurker, but even since I started writing fic myself, I've realized just how important it is to get feedback. I still have a hard time leaving it on occasion, but with a fic so amazing as yours, I would feel as though I were doing it a disservice by not responding to each and every wonderful installment.

What is your next series? Have you started it already? And when will you be posting it? I'd love to read more of your fics! and especially if they include this cast, there is no way I'd miss out!

Oh, I'm so bad about feedback! I almost never leave it and feel guilty about it, but I'm a very poor feedbacker. I usually just say "Good job" and that seems pathetic. So, I really appreciate your feedback

The next series isn't actually NCIS. It is going to be The District and focusing on the story of Jack Brander and his parents and sister. There will be a few stories that feature Emily Gibbs and her family, though. I've got the first story about half hand written, so it will be posted... sometime. If you friend this LJ, you'll get all my fics. (Nothing but fics on this LJ.)

I completely understand! I usually feel that way... it is really hard for me to put into words what I think about fics, unless they are exceptionally good. And even then, sometimes I hesitate, because just saying "oh I liked this this and this!" just doesn't seem sufficient. So I am glad that my feedback was ok =)

I'd love to read your new fic- although I won't lie, NCIS and House are literally the only tv shows that I watch, so I don't know if I'll be able to follow your story! But if Emily Gibbs and the fam shows up, I will certainly read it anyways!

I shall go friend you now =)
(I need more NCIS friends!)

Your feedback was lovely and awesome!

Well, the good news is that The District is an incredibly small fandom so basically I'm writing this like a piece of orginal fiction that I've borrowed people for. Plus, this is so wildly AU that I'm not sure it even is fanfic. ;-)
