“Fix your baby,” Millie commanded as Larry and Charlie walked through the front door of Charlie’s house.
Larry blinked, “What do you mean, Millie? What’s wrong with Alania?”
“No idea. She just started crying about a Myrtle, and then curled up under there,” Millie pointed towards the piano. “Who’s Myrtle?”
“That’s Alania’s name for the Ford.” Sitting cross-legged in front of the piano, Larry dipped his head to see his daughter, “Sweetheart, what’s the matter?”
Big, tear-filled eyes blinked out at him, “I heared Unca Charby tell Granma Millie that you were getting rid of Myrtle cause she got hurted.”
“Yes, Alania, we did,” he sighed. Watching the Ford being crushed was hard, but explaining it to his little girl was worse. “The car was hurt very badly in the accident. We had to get rid of it.”
Alania started crying harder as she crawled into her father’s lap, “Don’t get rid of Mommy, Daddy. Mommy was hurted bad, too.”
“Oh, sweetheart,” Larry kissed his daughter’s head, “I’d never get rid of Mommy. I love Mommy.”
“You lub Myrtle,” Alania cried.
“Not one tiny bit as much as I love Mommy or you.”
“Reawwy?”
Larry gathered her close, “Yes, really.”
