“Well, you told me that I owed you lunch after I used yours for a demonstration the other day. So…”
“So, you thought you could steal Alan’s Costco card and buy me the jumbo, economy size bag of buttered popcorn to make up?”
“Hey, I happen to have my own Costco card! … Okay, so maybe Dad got it for me, but it has my name on it. And, yeah, I did. I mean you were eating popcorn.”
“Cause it was the only thing in the break not passed its expiration date.”
“Oh.”
“And, I’ll have you know that since I got called in early that morning and ended up staying late that night, the three handfuls of popcorn I had before you poured my bottle of water on it was all I ate until 11 o’clock that night.”
“Oh.”
“So, when I said you owed me lunch. I meant you owed me a real lunch. In fact, a real lunch at Koji's Sushi & Shabu Shabu Restaurant.”
“Where?”
“It’s the Japanese restaurant on top of the Hollywood and Highland Mall.”
“You mean the place where you have to cook your own meat in vats of boiling broth?”
“Yep, that’s the place.”
“Ah… Um… Okay, I really don’t have a choice in this, do I?”
“Aw, everybody was right you really are a genius! Oh, and, Charlie, leave the popcorn. The boys and I can have it as an afternoon snack later.”
“I think I just got played.”
“Yup, pure genius.”
