First of all, what a wonderfull week it has been for New Zealand film makers! 11/11 Oscars, including Best Director and Best Picture. Thoroughly deserved. I am so proud of them all. The whole country of NZ was right behind Peter Jackson and his many cast and crew through out. We would still love them even if they didn't win 'cause the films have been all splended to behold.
Back to earth and the reality of real life now. Yes, it's sad but true. There is life beyond LOTR. W00T?
This Polytech stuff is getting harder, as promised by the tutors it would be. The stuff we learner prior to what's to come is supposed to make it easier. In alot of ways it is easier. I just got a test out of the way concerning data organisation. I think I did alright in it. Should see the results next week. We learnt about signed an unsigned binary, 2's compliment and Mantissa values. It all sounds full on, and at first it can be, but with a little teaching it becomes rather easy.
My major isn't going to be data organisation, rather, OS's. We've been having some fun in the labs working with VM ware. It's an ISO image that you can run another OS from your host OS. We do all our OS work on VM because the host system doesn't allow us to play around with it on its own. We will be doing stuff with some Linux later on, and next week we have the exams for this portion of the OS sessions. Thay don't fool around at that place. I am taking other subjects but the only other one I could do reasonably well in is Internet. Word processing is dead boring and Business Administration is bleh. All very well if you want to start a business I guess. Maybe I will one day. Yeah, I've thought of a name. "Hard-out Hardware".
