Last night on MSN someone linked me to this song, Consequence Free by Great Big Sea, stating that it was perminantly on their feel-good-music list.

Here's one from my "list", Keep the Customer Satisfied by Simon and Garfunkel. I've always loved Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard by them, among other songs. The last time I visited my aunt and ( Read more... )

i can never be sad when i hear "Nightswimming" by REM. a good energy song is "Elevation" by U2. a really good album for inspiration is "Clarity" by Jimmy Eat World. it's impossible to listen to the whole album without being inspired at least once. as far as feel-good music, their "Futures" album is wonderful

I now have to look into all of this. "Elevation" I've heard. Possibly "Nightswimming" as well. I've never heard much Jimmy Eat World.

i would recommend "Futures" first since it has so many really good songs with so many different moods to them. if you like that then check out "Clarity". that one is more mellow and less polished, but there is a song on there called "Goodbye Sky harbor" that is about 13 minutes long and as the song plays the music repeats and gradually vocals are added (little nonsense phrases) and layered in and as the vocals are added, instruments are dropped out until it's just the vocals doing little nonsense phrases that all blend and weave around one another. it sounds cooler on the album than i'm describing it right now

I've actually have a live version of "Goodbye Sky Harbor" on my computer for years. But it's live, and I don't recall it sounding nearly as complex as you describe it.

Of course! How could we forget that! Damnit, this post should've been for this video. Oh well. Maybe a new one.

I realized recently that the song "Get Ready for This" by 2 Unlimited is sort of a feel-good song. Not feel-good in the sense that it actually makes you happy because it's a nice pleasant song. It's a horrifically overplayed sports anthem; there's nothing good about it. However, it does make you feel pretty ridiculous to feel sad or angry while it's playing. It's so superficial and stupid that it kind of makes you question why you'd ever feel any real emotions at all beyond just being totally pumped up and happy. When you look into the abyss that is "Get Ready for This," the abyss also looks into you and asks "Y'all ready for this?"

It is indeed a powerful song. The video is absolutely nauseating.

Chumbawumba. I've always liked them, unironically, and have suffered ridicule for it since day one.
