We went to an Open House today in Marblehead, a house just off the 4th hole of the Tedesco Golf Course. This home, we were told was owned by a grandparent, later passed on to a child, then to a grandchild.
Very nice views of the golf course, needs a bit of work, but a lovely 2 lot piece of property on the southeastern east of Marblehead - about as close as you can get to the Swampscott train, a positive for those commuting into Boston. I love the views, and the privacy.
I’ve often been intrigued by the public record. What did I learn about said property from the comfort of my home?
- Leo & Ruth Hannaway bought the property on May 12 1967, which had previously been owned by a William J Goldthwait (I can find a reference to July 21 1914 re: his ownership of the home; he seemed to also be an officer of a Marblehead bank in 1910 or so); there is some connect to Goldthwait and Pitman (we had looked at an open house on Pitman Rd. earlier)
- Leo “gave” the house to Paul Hannaway around 1991
- Paul Hannaway “sold” the house to Kevin Hannaway
- Kevin, according to the RE lady lived in the house for the past 5 years, and it looks bad because is was a bachelor pad; She added that Kevin married recently and moved to Beverly.
Intrigued by all this, I discovered,
- Kevin seems to have "done well”, having married Rayna N. Lesser; I don’t seem to be able to find when they married, however,
- Kevin & Rayna buy a house in Prides Crossing (aka Beverly MA) at 28 Paine Ave for a cool $4.125MM with at least one mortgage for $2.681MM in May 2007- frankly, the house doesn’t do it for me….. Diral Limited , a British Virgin Islands Co. was the seller.
- Rayna doesn’t seem to like her married name, well, on the deed someone crossed out Hannaway and wrote in Lesser
- Kevin and Rayna are not sailors rather motorboat people, having a 35 foot powerboat called “Diversion” -- at least, they’ve been identified as being the driver’s
SO….. having learned some these things…….. DO YOU????
-- low ball the offer on the house knowing they seem to have a shit load of money (and Mr. bachelor don’t seemed to have cared for the house for sale) or what?
-- Dude, don't you know about the economic-market forces? The guy has $$$ and can wait it out to get the price he wants...
