It's interesting how that creative spark reignites when you're not stuck doing schoolwork all the time.
It started with writing in my livejournal again... something that I still do only infrequently at best, but not at all when school starts coming to an end. After that I started applying for scholarships. Then I made soap.
After that I found myself drinking wine with my mother and I was thinking about my wine bottle up at school, the one I'm dripping wax all over. So I started thinking how much I wanted to get one of those bottle wicks to put into it, so that I could turn it into an oil lamp. I decided "enough of this wishing, I'm going to go out and do it." So I went to the craft store, but they didn't have them. Instead, I found myself in the candlemaking aisle looking at molds for floating candles. Suddenly the light went on and I went home to make candles.
It's crazy, I'm like a man obsessed. I took all the deformed christmas candles and spilled wax and reforged them into these floating candles... then I got creative and started making molds from cookie cutters and shit. I now have some really hot heart shaped candles that float in the water.
Then I started dreaming again, and I rarely dream. But what's neat about it, is that my dreams were about this idea for a novel I've been toying with since middle school, and now I think I finally have enough ideas to actually start writing. Whether or not I'll actually get the drive to start is another matter.
Anyway, going back to the wine thing, my lips were so chapped that the merlot stained the chapped parts of my lips reddish black and I don't have any chapstick. So my brother's sitting with me at the diner, and he's saying how retarded my lips look and I'm like "my lips are really chapped... can I use some of your chapstick."
So he says "No, only girls do shit like that."
"You're a bastard."
So today I couldn't take the chapped lips anymore, so I started thinking "hey, if I can make candles and shit, I'm sure I can find a recipe for lip balm." Oh yeah, I had chocolate fondu last night. This is vaguely relevant because all of these require the use of a double boiler, something I discovered only recently.
So there were several recipes online, but most of them required ingredients that I didn't have, so in the end I ended up creating my own recipe based on ideas from different chapsticks. I put the chapstick in old tea light candle tins, and it works really really well. It's a honey/tea tree flavored mix, and it took the chappedness of my lips away right quick. I'm really proud of it. Tea tree oil is this funny smelling miracle oil. It's used to help your body heal skin problems like break outs, abraisions and other such things. I used to use it because I had really really bad acne in high school, and this stuff would clear you up right quick. I read somewhere that if you get chapstick with it as an ingredient, it is one of the best things around to cure really bad chapped lips. I finished my chapstick about an hour ago, and my lips are already 100 percent better. I'm keeping the little containers in a bag in the fridge because I don't have anything with a top on it. Next time I want to use beeswax.
One of these days I'll get around to writing about my new years resolution, but in the mean time, I have some things to do.
