Out with the old, and in with the new.

As we all grow older we seem to grow out of old habits, such as playing army in the case of the boys or house in case of the girls. This sounds a bit sexist but i assure you i have a point.

Today i was watching some old classics, such as 'Rosie & Jim, Sonic the hedgehog and 'The adventures of super Mario'. I couldn't help but laugh at how bad these shows have become. Now i can argue that the shows have always been this bad, or that they actually have become really bad.

'Rosie & Jim' has some really camp man who now owns the Ragdoll. He talks to himself throws anchors into lakes without securing the chain and also not being bothered that he comes back to his boat to find it vandalised by those pesky dolls. Also the songs are made up on the spot and this is made obvious with the stutters of those singing. 'R & J' educated kids, by getting themselves into troublesome situations, teaching us how a shop is run for instance. But today they are teaching kids how to chains are made! What the hell!!!

As for Sonic the hedgehog, it is onto its forth incantation (i think...) and it gets worse every time. Why must they continue to taint the memories from our generations youth. And something i've noticed is, cards that contain some kind of magical power. whats the deal with that? Dr robotnik (or dr egg-head as he is know now) uses card that hold monster in them and when unleashed attack sonic. Crappy. I watched the original yesterday and it is far better, it has noticeably more violence than the new one, which is strange as violence is becoming more popular nowadays, and it also had pointless jokes, which are funny if you think about the fact that we were about 6 when we watched this show if you did watch this show.

Mario was just crap from the go. I prefer the Mario games to Sonic, but the cartoon sucks. All i can say is that i watched an episode and it did not include Mario just this kid that has a portable NES and can use it to perform mildly impressive abilities such a jump like Mario (ooh amazing). Now this kid travels back in time, with a gay fairy and they come to meet Robin Hood and his merrymen. The rest of the episode is just the classic Robin Hood tale.

Finally what the hell happened to the kid's game shows, like funhouse that was good i liked funhouse but it no longer exsists. The go-karts were my favourite part of it.

Now i sit here, watching Family through the corner of my eye. it reminds me that i shouldn't be watching kids show now, i'm no longer 6 so why the hell did i just complain about them. Hmm life is weird. But i can't just erase these shows from my memory.

Ooh have to point out that 'Thunder cats', 'Transformers' and 'Battle of the planets' all rocked equally and these were childhood shows. Damn it i just can't let go of these classics.

still i would like input from you the reader, your thoughts on the shows mentioned above, or on shows that were not mentioned and that you enjoyed many years ago.
