So my mom won her race on Tuesday.....yeah for The Commish! Granted she was running uncontested, so it was pretty much a done deal. :P Another four years of Lynne Riley making sure that North Fulton gets what they need and deserve! Speaking of, one of her new co-workers John Eaves don't feel the same way she does about how things in the FC should go.....here's a bit about what I mean:
Eaves has criticized the previous board for having a "spirit of discord" while promising he would bring a "fresh attitude." But his Web site, which features audio endorsements from Mayor Shirley Franklin, former U.S. Ambassador Andrew Young and controversial comments from U.S. Rep.John Lewis, has already caused a stir among the two Republican incumbents, commissioners Tom Lowe and Lynne Riley, who sailed into another term unopposed.
In a voice recording featured on Eaves' Web site, Lewis urges Fulton County residents to vote for Eaves and other Democrats, saying:
"On Nov. 7 we face the most dangerous situation we ever have. If you think fighting off dogs and water hoses in the '60s was bad, imagine if we sit idly by and let the right-wing Republican take control of the Fulton County Commission. The efforts of Martin Luther King Jr. and many others will be lost. ... Unless you want them to turn back the clock on equal rights, human rights, economic opportunity for all, vote for John Eaves as Fulton County chairman. Your very life may depend on it."
Eaves' voice chimes in:
"I'm John Eaves and I approved this message because in Fulton County, we're focused on the future."
Riley, an accountant, said she was "very disappointed" by the comments on Eaves' Web site:
"I've worked very hard for two years on big issues that are to the benefit of the entire county," she said. "I'm very sad to think that any other message would be delivered."

Seriously dude get over it. I hate it when people try to make others look bad just to make themselves look good. Which is why I'm so glad the elections are over....done with all that mudslinging. But this is just horrific if you ask me.....maybe because I take it a bit personally since it's my mother that is being attacked. Granted I am biased since I am her first born child, but my mom is not someone who would "turn back the clock on equal rights" by any means. She is not in this position for prestige, glory, fame, upward mobility in the political world, or anything else for that matter. She takes on this ridiculousness every single day so that her constituents get the services they pay for with their hard earned money, need to live a healthy life, and just flat-out deserve. She doesn't ask for any recognition, and she sure doesn't parade around acting like she should get it. She works so hard to make sure things run as smoothly as possible in an already tremulous county like Fulton only for the benefit of the citizens. My mom is by far one of the most charitable people I know, and she is most definitely my hero. I strive to be like her in every way. So take that Mr. Eaves......I think your so-called "spirit of dicord" is simply you being closed-minded.
Just to sum it all up from quite possibly the best show on TV:
To be loved by people, you have to be nice to them every day. To be hated, you don't have to do squat!
