Oh, The Places You'll Go

Feb 02, 2006 07:29

I just wanted to let everyone know that for the next few days, I probably won't be able to post as many blogs. I know I just got started with livejoural, but I do have good reason>

As an author of kids books, one of the things I like best about the job -- if you can call it a job -- is that I get to travel to all different places in order to visit schools and talk to kids about my books, reading and writing, the process of book making, and literature. I get to visit places I would probably never get to see like Austin, Fort Myers, Minneapolis, Houston and Santa Monica.

On top of that, my books also help to create some amazing opportunities and experiences for me. Next fall, I have a football picture book coming out. It's a father-son story set during an historic 1958 football game between the New York Giants and the then Baltimore Colts. Well, this week, I get to visit Detroit and attend the Super Bowl in order to do some book promotion. To say I'm bouncing-off-the-walls excited would be quite the understatement.

Then I'm off to four elementary schools in Dallas, a county book festival in Florida, and four more schools in College Station. And while all this is taking place, at some point, "Playing the Field" will be arriving in stores.

So that's part of why I'll be cutting back on the blogging and bulletins for a short while.
But thanks for all the great comments. Please keep 'em coming. I love to hear what you have to say, and I do try to respond to most.

Increase the peace,

Phil
