Carlee, Angela Johnson and "Sweet, Hereafter"
This is so freakin' cool!
In February 2008, Carlee James was one of the students who traveled with me to New Orleans to volunteer in the Lower Ninth Ward. Upon our return, I posted tons of pictures (surprise, surprise). When Kevin, who was still Editorial Director at Simon & Schuster at the time, saw Carlee in the pictures, he knew he'd found the girl he wanted for the cover of Angela Johnson's next novel, "Sweet, Hereafter."
Of course, Kevin left Simon & Schuster last spring during the Cultural Revolution. "Sweet Hereafter" was one of the books he was wrapping up at the time. This week, we finally got to see the cover. Wow!
Here's hoping that Angela and Kevin when yet another Coretta Scot King Award!
