Oh, man!
We made the cover of the Spring 2007 Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Catalog! "The Barnstormers: Tales of the Travelin' Nine" is Simon & Schuster's featured titled next spring.
This is beyond huge.
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing has many children's divisions (Books for Younger Readers, Atheneum, Aladdin, Simon Pulse...), but out of all the books they're publishing between December 2006 and April 2007, this is the one they've chosen to highlight above all others.
I have to say, thumbing through the catalog today was humbling and emotional. I see all the names of the authors and illustrators who have works contained in here, and it doesn't seem real. How can it be? Our project -- our dream -- is in here, and in here reads like the who's who list of the world of children and young adult literature.
And then to open the catalog and read what Simon & Schuster is prepared to do on behalf of our project -- on behalf of our dream -- I'm rendered inarticulate. An initial print run which surpasses the number of books all my previous titles have sold combined. A marketing campaign with a dollar sign so large I have to count the number of zeroes. Floor displays for the large chain stores.
This really may be the next big one. This is really happening.
So freakin' cool!
As I've said in my last two postings, over the next months, I'm going to be writing bulletins, messages, blogs and plogs that are all about "The Barnstormers." You can say you were there from the start. Read the bulletins, subscribe to the blog, tell your friends.
So many have already. Thanks!
