How about this one? 'An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure'. This one means...well, if you're sick, you should prevent other people from catching the same thing. If someone else caught your cold, they'd probably come find you and beat you into the ground. Be considerate and it'll save you a lot of pain in the long run.
