[Today, Johto at large would learn something new. A simple, small fact that might easily have slipped by many inhabitants of this world. Johto would learn a not-so-dark secret due to the absentminded nature of one particular engineer ( Read more... )

[Gray hair, huh. /rolls with it. When you play tennis, you get used to that sort of thing.]

You might want to prepare a pair of skates for the one in Mahogany.

Skates? They must train Ice-types, then. Right?

Seems most likely. I only poked my head in for a short while to see what's inside. Mind you, this was winter, and I could have sworn the temperature inside the gym was lower than what was outside.

Probably so the leader can have a tactical advantage--I bet the floor's covered in ice so their Pokemon can move more easily.

Fire types might have a little trouble in that sort of environment. I know that my Quilava has trouble starting up his flames in the cold, if he's just come out of his pokeball.

I'd assume the cold weather doesn't make starting fires any easier. Still, if you managed to get a hit in with a fire-type, I think you'd have a pretty good chance.

If you skate all the way to the end, really. It might be useful, to take advantage of the cold weather to figure out how to balance on the ice, if you're going to go for that gym eventually.

I can manage okay on ice, but I don't think I have anything with an advantage to ice types.

[/hmm. thinking back on the games--] I think it depends on the pokemon, really. But in general, fire works -- and so does fighting.

You don't have any fire types?

I don't have either. My team's electric, flying, poison, grass, and psychic.

Well, most ice pokemon are also weak against electricity.

[.......] You might want to borrow a fire pokemon from someone, eventually. Or just raise one yourself.

Oh, really? I guess I'm a little rusty with what has advantages over what.

...If the weather gets any colder, I might have to. Traveling in this kind of cold isn't a great idea.

It's the dual ice/water thing. Somehow, it works.

And that's true enough. I have a feeling that spring should be right around the corner, though. Isn't it March?

I guess that makes logical sense, yeah.

Now that you mention it, I think it is. I keep losing track, to be honest.

It's hard to keep track, really. Especially since there's usually a disjunction between the month here and the month back home.

It was April 2009 when I left home, and when I got here it was mid or late summer in Johto. Then again, that's probably the least confusing part of this place.
