H-hey, guys!
[The video shows an eager and clearly excited Otacon, with a disappointed Arbok sleeping in the background. The reason for this is made clear shortly:]
That egg I got, the one that just showed up over Christmas? I think it's hatching! [Poor Kotai. She was so looking forward to eating it when Otacon's back was turned.]
[He focuses the camera on the black egg patterned with musical notes--sure enough, it's shaking and starting to crack.]
I don't know wh-what's in there, I can't even guess based on the shell. Doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before, but I'm sure it's--
Chaaa~
[Dead silence. Otacon didn't say a word, he hardly even breathed. Out of the camera's view, his bright smile faded to a look of shock.]
[A parrot. Why, why of all the things it could be did Johto have to taunt him with a parrot? And though it wasn't the same, obviously, looking at it made Otacon feel downright sick.]
["My sister...won't be able to come with us."
They had to leave her there. There wasn't any choice--the Kasatka could only fit so many people, and the hostages in the sinking complex were obviously first priority. There was nothing he could do for her anymore.
Not that he'd ever done anything for her anyway.
The smell of blood was nauseating, staining the floor and his labcoat. There was nothing left of Emma Emmerich now; Otacon was alone. No family, barely any friends...just Snake and Philanthropy.
"Hal? Hal, I miss you. I miss you."
The bright green parrot on his arm--Emma had said it was her only friend here--sat there repeating the same phrase over and over in Emma's voice. For some reason that was all it would say now, and it was all of his stepsister that remained.
I'm sorry. Otacon thought to himself, over and over. I'm sorry I ran away. I'm sorry I left you alone. I...I couldn't save you.
He really was useless, wasn't he? And in the end, even the parrot left; flying off to god only knows where.
No matter how Snake reassured him, no matter how Otacon knew he had to get everyone else out of there..that didn't make everything suddenly okay. Nothing was ever 'okay' for him. And it probably never would be. He was alone, no matter how close his only friend might have been.]
[The camera was dropped unceremoniously on the bed, the sound of a door slamming being the last thing heard before the video timed out.]
[Copying a few others, the stuff under the cut is totally optional and such. Otacon seems to have locked himself in the bathroom to put some distance between him and his newly hatched Chatot, so video responses will be ICly late. <3]
