Look where we've all come from.
She is black and white.
Rich and poor.
She is African, Asian, Aboriginal.
She is Methodist and Muslim,
Haitian, Hindu.
Baptist and Buddhist.
She is Jewish and Jainist,
Catholic Confucion.
She is HIV-Positive.
She is high on hope, vital if viral.
She's got little to sell, less to leverage
but a power unparalleled.
She walks down streets stained the burgundy red of
infected, affected blood.
A blood raging heavy with hope.
Angry and audacious, divine and destitute.
Her situation tenuous, her spirit tremendous.
She's called to the Ministry, called to a Masters,
called to Motherhood.
This is her call to courage.
She is apt to learn, of dire concern.
She is the impassioned cry of an outraged humanity.
Impossible to contain with red ribbons, black t-shirts
and long white candles.
Standing tall in her worn brown sandles.
She is flying high, she is asking why,
she refuses to simply die.
Sometimes she weeps, gets weary,
but she's going to win.
She's been fucked up, fucked with, fucked over -
continues to fucking fight.
She is righteous, in laughter she revels, she is a refugee.
She is me and yet I see her in you.
Look where we've all come from.
