Here we go again... Tomorrow's my second try at the driving exam, then my final farewell party (cause this time I'm leaving, whether I have my license or not), and at 11am on Thursday, I'm off to Japan!
There's so many things that make me uneasy right now... Of course I'm nervous about the exam, but I'm also going in there knowing that it won't matter the outcome, I'm going this time. I know I can drive, I just need to remember to do all the silly overdoing they make you do, like visually turning your head when checking the side window, keeping the right order of things to check (inside mirror, outside mirror, window, then hit the winker, when normally you'd do it first), stopping at stop signs and not rolling even at ridiculously low speed)... I'm very prone to fail under pressure (when it comes to physical things; I do very bad at archery tournaments for example), so it's gonnna be a tad tough.

Also, there's the luggage. Oh the luggage... I had the suitcase down to about 26 kilos, but then I threw in the christmas presents I got, some medication, and my external harddrive, and BAM, 30 flat. So we'll see if they'll let me through or I'll have to sift through my suitcase trying to find stuff to get rid of. (and/or put in my handluggage, which is still one of the things that baffle me about air travel) Hey, there's like 2 or 3 kilos of chocolate in there... Also, bow.
And then comes immigration, and then comes my first meeting with some of my superiors... Good thing I'm going in there on a weekend, I'll have at least a bit of time to acclimatize (and sleep).

On Friday, I'll be meeting up with Wakako, check into my apartment after getting the key at the office, then possibly go buy a suit and definitely have some japanese food.
Saturday, I'll probably sleep in, prowl the area a bit, possibly visit the town office if it's open (which I doubt since it's a state holiday) for alien registration, then head to the final qualification for the world indoor championships, where a good deal of my friends (and possibly a few colleagues from work) will be competing. It's the first day, so I don't know how free we'll be to hang out, but it'll be good to at least see them again.

I spent so much money on souvenirs for people it's not even funny... I got a pretty nice sum from my grandmothers, but most of it went right into that stuff. Japan's funny like that, turning up emptyhanded is a really bad idea.

Oh, also, christmas presents. Since it was our last evening together (without my friends all over the place), my family insisted on giving me my presents today. My sister got me the complete Firefly on DVD, which is fantastic (and made me go "oh, gotta go stop the download!) and made for a fun filled evening (those making of featurettes were so nostalgic and sad they almost make you cry... And I've only seen like three episodes), as well as a calendar, and my mom got me Pirates of the Caribbean 2, plus a box of cash. She gave me Yen, which I think is extremely wise, seeing as I'd spend some of it here if it wasn't.

Taking a break from the packing, I made a trip to one of Vienna's archery shops, had lunch with the owner, and made a deal with him to have him use Shibuya's V-Bar (and possibly Stabilizer system) and promote it a bit... The guy's always eager to promote our stuff (since he makes money off it in the end, and it's kinda high-end equipment, meaning more profit), so he was more than willing to accept the offer. My first deal made, yay! Also, possibly going to sponsor my friend Konrad for some equipment as well, which would be great since he's a really talented archer and very picky about his equipment, meaning he'd be able to give me some really useful feedback.

And now, I'm kinda really tired! Gonna take a last look at the theoretical (technical) stuff for the exam, then sleep. More excitement tomorrow!

travel, work
