We walked into the Dreams store in Chester after having been into several others nearby, and we were accosted by the salesman almost immediately. Jane said "I don't like him" and I agreed. He showed us 3 beds which we liked, and I asked him to show us something cheaper (so that we could compare whether we wanted to go down in price or if the ones he was showing us were overpriced). He didn't look at all impressed and showed us something which was OK but a load less comfy.
We went back to our favourite and had another go on it, then the sales patter started. I told him we could talk about things but I wasn't going to commit today. Seemed to pay no attention to this at all and told us we could have the display model at a reduced price. The price he gave us was good compared to the displayed prices on everything but we weren't sure still, having seen cheaper beds in other stores.
He got quite agreesive at this point, and pouted like a little boy when I told him that we still weren't going to commit. He called over the store manager and told him that he'd offered us x on this product and that us having to think about it was ridiculous. The store manager obviously agreed and also started agressively selling, using every technique to overcome objections that I know about and a few pushy techniques that just aren't fair. It was only after about 5 minutes of verbal pummeling that I had enough and said no very firmly and just about ended up pulling Jane away from the circling sharks.
I'd consider complaining but I think the regional sales manager would only congratulate their staff for a job well done :(
