Personally I'd say sod the town centre and send them on a bus to St. Fagans, or Comeston(sp?) Lakes or up the Taff trail.

Yeah, that's my general philosophy on it too - I'm trying to encourage people not to go to what the guidebooks say - like the Norwegian church - I mean, why!? Taff Trail could be nice.

If there's music inside, the Norwegian church is wonderful :)

If they're into Dr Who/Torchwood, I think the BBC have a list of filming locations. Near Ogmore, there's the Plough & Harrow pub, Ewenny Priory, loads of castles round there (and more within 50 miles). Beacons mountain railway near Merthyr, and Dan-yr-ogof caves near Glyneath. The view from the Garth is great too.

I didn't realise Ewenny was that nearby, added!

I would take them to WMC...and get someone to explain all about it and the design concept (other=wise its just a theatre) and from there i woud walk up the side of the taff (or take the water taxi part way if they can afford it!) and look at the sides of the brains warehouse and all that sort of industrial underside of cdf. I would keep goin gup the trail so you can point out bute park and the castle on the otherside and then show them the cricket ground etc. then you get to see pontcanna fields and can go all the way up to llandaff cathedral.

i would also take the to investigate pontcanna (nice boutique-y shops and le galouis deli) also a few lovely galeries and chapter (worth a look!0

hmmmm, theres loads more worth exploring! ;)

Don't worry, I've got the WMC on there. BTW - since you worked around there, where the heck is the Welsh Assembly building - the one with the mushroom shaped roof that's funky and ecological? I like the water taxi idea, I forgot we had one of them. Don't know Pontcanna very well, but I hear it's pretty cultured.

I was a bit confused until I realised you meant the bit of Roath Park with the lake in it! I was wondering why the heck I'd need to take a loaf of bread to the other bit - other than to bash away students who get too close.

Got most of the rest, but I forgot about the Gower. Every time I've been there it's been raining and windy....

Caerleon is nearby with all the Roman stuff. The Castle Grounds is worht showing off too. The Wenault woods is a nice walk with a great view of Cardiff.
