Lighthouse Painting

Aug 13, 2011 23:04

There are stars floating on the ocean,
and they are reflected in the night sky.
This scene is water-colour - like an
Impressionist dream, with wind caught
mid-swirl, and light that is thicker than air.
Two twins stand, snared in paint strokes,
separated by sand without a single grain.
They turn and turn again, but their gazes
can never meet. Out to sea they search,
and the moon riding on her cloud can only
shake her head in high-sorrowed pity.
Yet their gazes do not dim or weary as
the eternal night stretches on beyond
the frame of this painting; the twin gazes
of the twin lighthouses will ever seek
each other.
