Too depressed to rant
Basically the reason she is working with high decile schools is because they have the support (financial, time, etc) to carry on with any changes in the library we implement and poor schools don't.
About the poor schools "They need to get volunteers to sort out their library/the teacher in charge of the library needs to make time to do it/it isn't our responsibility to come in and fix their lives for them." Basically.
Going up to Palmy in July is pretty much "non-negotiable". It's either go, or annual leave.
I am still down on the schedule as a question mark for the rest of June but I think I managed to get across that I couldn't handle leaving home right now so I don't think she'll try again for a couple of weeks. But nothing was every clarified. Instead we went and sorted out work for me at Cashmere High. It was like an idea that just occured to her on the spot, we didn't clear it with the princible or anything, just walked up to the library and asked the librarian "Do you want Alison next week? I don't."
Fine. Whatever. At least it's close to home.
But X-men was awesome.
