In case you were wondering, I did it. I cleaned my room. More or less.
While I'm killing time before dinner/drinkies I'm going to list all the bounty I pillaged from the book sale. I do rather wish I'd picked up the Persian/English dictionary because then we could have had signs up around the LFoD in Persian and that's sexy.
Firebirds: an anthology of science fiction and fantasy (young adult)
We Need To Talk About Kevin, Lionel Shriver, which sounds deep and dark and depressing and I think there's a school shooting.
Tithe, Holly Black, reserved for Nikki.
Waifs and Strays, Charles de Lint, to add to my collection. Story stories. Includes the one about Stick, who I love, and could very well steal for DL if we had a gang war with elves going...
The Brothers Grimm: two lives, one legacy. Non fiction.
Acceleration, Graham McNamee. I have NO IDEA why I picked this one up, it's YA and one of those ones with NO BLURB. Blurbless books should be taken out back and blurbed. (Also, blurb writers should be required to read and understand the book. You'd take this as a given but...) Anyway, I think I have some kind of psychic connection to it or something, so I bought it.
40,001 best baby names. For DL.
Hunted, N.M. Browne. I think I read this as a kid. Fox and girl sharing lives, wild and animally and something. I don't know, I was on a spending spree.
Trader, Charles de Lint. SCORE.
The Bad Mother's Handbook, Kate Long. I have high hopes. Plus we quote the movie. "I can see you in the mirror, Charlotte." (It makes sense in the LFoD)
While I Live, John Marsden. The sequel-series to the Tomorrow series. Since I wanted to be Ellie when I grew up, I thought I better own it.
The Green Man: tales from the mythic forest. Charles Vess illustrations, Charles De Lint, Neil Gaimen, Jane Yolen, edited by Terri Wilding, whom I adore.
Emergency Sex and other Desperate Measures: true story. Mum reccommended.
The Fairy Godmother, Mercedes Lackey, which Jen had stolen already, I think.
And Sex and the City which Cath stole as soon as she saw it.
Not bad for $21.
So I'm quite pleased. The Killers not-new-anymore album Sam's Town is growing on my like mould on a orange and I'm building plots from songs. Bones, Bling, Read My Mind all kick serious earlobe arse.
I wonder how many books I own. I honestly do NOT know what I'm going to do when I move to Melbourne (when/if, probably when) because... I love my books. My minilibrary. My babies. I do need a bigger bookshelf though...
There's a birthday present idea actually. Must remember this.
