they're shook.
people are really terrified of africa. it's pretty crazy. that's not to say that i'm not nervous about this trip. but i suspect it's for different reasons.
the employee at the fabric store said she would be too afraid to go there, "with all the zebras & everything". what? the zebras? forget the fact that africa is not an entire continent of deserts, jungles or prairies, but...could you have picked a more docile animal? or is that just some sort of euphemism for "too many black people"?
then today the nurse practitioner said, "have fun! try not to catch any diseases!". gee, thanks.
