I haven't been able to draw any horses worth looking at lately.
So I've been looking for a book with decent photographs of wolves in it for, like, a zillion years. And I mean a REALLY FRAKKING LONG TIME. No dice, though--either they're black and white or unclear or they just plain don't exist.
And then the other day I went to see a movie with my BFF and when we popped into Borders afterward, I found this AWESOME book with heaps of REALLY GOOD photos--well-defined, expressive, range of poses and angles. And puppies. OH THE PUPPIES.
So this is awesome, right?
Wrong.
Turns out that was the one day I didn't bring my Borders voucher--and when I have $250 AUD on a voucher, there's no way on earth I'm paying solid money for a book.
So I didn't buy it.
But I did pull out my sketchbook (which I carry with me everywhere) and start sketching, right there in the shop. Only one funny look, thankfully.
The pair of wolves on the bottom are now more refined (that was when I was REALLY running out of time) and I may scan it eventually. No promises though. *flop*
There's one more movie we have to see these holidays, so I'll be sure to purchase it then.
And on a completely unrelated note, Kahlem (Furry-Paws and WHILS) and Idess (all-round awesome artist) made a new game called Mweor, about cat-like creatures. It's image and point based, and fairly simple, with a nice little Roleplaying element to it, so if you've the time really check it out! Registeration opens very soon, but I have a pile of invite codes, so if you're really desperate to sign up, drop me a line.
Anyway, this is a little RP banner I whipped up for my starter Mweor Kerina. I don't think I've ever drawn anything this expressively stylised, so that was a fun new exercise. Depending on how it's recieved and how my muse's mood swings, prepare to see either no more heavy-toon pictures or a huge onslaught of them. xD
I reused the flames from the considerably more sucky original banner, but I'm still rather fond of it. Little fox. xD
