AA didn't plan anything this day as Keith was having diarrhoea.
We went out in the morning to our old home's market to do some marketing and also visit MIL at the same time.
After our marketing, AA went up to visit MIL as Keith was stuck at the playground. He soon came down with MIL and they had some fun in the playground with MIL holding on to Jess (yes, she finally let MIL carry her!) MIL was so pleased that she had to carry the 2 of them to her neighbours nearby and "show off" her grandchildren.
Keith was bored with their chattering after a while and attempted to run back to where AA and I stood. But he did not realise that he was on the collision course with a bicycle! I quickly screamed and it stopped him in his tracks and to our relieve and the cyclists' shock it just grazedpassed him and after that he was happily running towards us again. *phews*
So I hang on him for dear life after that, strapping him to the stroller. But he was very unhappy and demanded to be released. AA then asked MIL to go upstairs with us so we can have our breakfast. MIL reluctantly bade her friends goodbye and Jess was a dear. She made a good show waving and pan kissing everyone bye bye. Everyone praised my little princess for being a smart girl and she was so pleased with herself!
Earlier in the market, I was happily buying some stuff as I intended to cook for them this afternoon.
I got:
1) A piece of fish (ang go li) @ $3.50
2) Chye Sim on bunch @ $1.00
3) Carrots and Tomatoes @ $1.70
4) Niang Dou Foo several items @ $2.00
5) Dates @ $0.80
6) Ikan bilis and Silver Fish @ $1.50 each
7) Garlic and Ginger @ $1.00
8) 1kg rice @ $1.80
Total = $13.30!
And I didn't even use up all the ingredients. I'll be cooking again this weekend :P
I took about an hour to prepare the lunch but it wasn't till I was almost finished and about to fry the vegetables when I realised that I haven't bought any oil! In the end, I had to blanch the vegetables without any oil but luckily the vegetables were very sweet and it turned out ok after all :P
For lunch we had:
1) Fish soup
I cooked this with the fish bones from the piece of fish I bought. Also added in ikan bilis and the niang dou foo bits. *Delicious* though missing pepper.
2) Steamed fish
I de boned the fish and steamed it with some salt and ginger in the microwave. As I had no cling wrap most of the juices escaped and I felt it was a tad bit dry.
3) Fried Blanched CaiXin with garlic and silverfish
I had intended to fry this but ended up blanching it instead. Nevertheless, luckily the veges were quite sweet and it turned out ok.
Keith was as usually rather cranky over lunch as his stomach discomfort was bad. He didn't take much food and kept wanting to sleep. Jess, on the other hand, was her usually hungry hippo self and to my surprise and delight, she actually ate and said " goo goo" (good good) with her hand sign all the way :D
I felt the lunch was rather badly done but was happy to see AA and Jess finish up most of the stuff :D
After lunch, AA helped clear up while I took the water I collected from cooking to water my plants. Keith followed me to the door and was a little amused to see me watering the plants. He wanted to follow me out (thought I was going outside again) but stopped when he realised that I was just going to stand outside.
We watched a little TV and Keith was soon asleep on the couch. I carried him back to the room where he and AA had their afternoon nap.
Jess, being the active little dynamo she is, was happily going up and down the house and attempting to drag the plastic bag of trousers that BIL passed to AA for trying. I entertained her for a while before picking her up and rocking her to sleep on my chest.
Later in the afternoon, when AA woke, he arranged with BIL to go out for dinner with MIL and J. So we were off again to Singapore Post Office for another great dinner at Thai Kitchen. Amazingly, we managed to hit $100 this time! However, considering that we had so many dishes, it was still quite ok. BIL and AA split the bill.
As usual, during dinner, Keith and Jess were more interested in the fountain outside than the food inside. Jess was a dear and wanted to feed herself! And she could almost do it :) Keith on the other hand was more picky and only wanted rice with gravy. I had to sneak in his vegetables and fish again under his rice. Still, his appetite wasn't great and he only managed to finish one bowl of rice.
We went on a shopping spree at NTUC after dinner and I bought most of the items required for making my cookies! Hopefully I can get more stuff tomorrow and I'm able to bake them :)
