Keith goes missing (3 acts)
Act 1:
Scene: Suntec City convention
Date: 10th April 09
Players: AA, Keith, Jess and Me
AA popped me off at Suntec to do service something, so he went to park the car with the children while I make my way to get my things done. Halfway through the servicing, I received a call from AA.
AA: Boy has disappeared!
Me: huh?! what?!
AA: He's gone. Girl went to sleep and had to carry her. At first he was running in front of me, but he's now gone!!
Me: Could he have run to the toilet?
AA: (frustrated) I'm not sure, will check.
After the servicing, I rushed out to join AA. At first, we thought Keith was just being his usual naughty self and we'll find him soon enough. We went to his usual haunts like the toilets (he like the little blinking lights there), fountains, TV displays, lifts but he simply was no where to be found.
Frantic by now, I requested the information counter's help to call out to anyone who spotted him to bring him back. As one of us waited to see if anyone replied, the other scouted around the area again to make sure that we had not miss him.
One and a half hours later, we finally found him hopping in the male toilet at the other end of the convention hall!! Needless to day, we were both very angry but relieved that we finally found him. Keith was clearly shaken and clung to me when he came back with AA. AA had smacked and scolded him and he was clearly upset when he could find us. Goodness know what he had been up to in the whole time! AA assured me that he checked and Keith seems to be in good shape.
And we thought it would never happen again.
Act 2:
Scene: Bugis Junction
Date: 12th April 09
Players: AA, Keith, Jess and Me
Met AA's friend's family for lunch and spent time at his home. Towards the evening, was contemplating what to eat and we stopped by Bugis Junction to grab some Ramen, which the evils usually eat. After dinner, we were walking around to shop a bit and to work off the food. After about 5 minutes...
AA: Keith disappear again! Ran off on his own again.
Me:?!?!?!?
AA: hiyah!
Me: You search this way and I'll go this way. Most probably in some toilet somewhere again...
So we did our usual rounds of the usual places. This time we found him after 15 minutes (improved timing).
AA: saw him coming out from the hotel entrance. He should have gone into the toilet there.
Me: =S (smack Keith) You're a bad boy!
Keith: (teary, hugs me)
Me: Cannot run off on your own...etc *sigh*
AA, having his mood spoilt, packed us all home. When we got to the car, Keith got a bad trashing (tiger stripes) and another severe warning that he cannot run off on his own again.
And it was better, after that, AA kept a tighter control over Keith and held onto him as much as he can. We thought that he had learnt his lesson this time.
Act 3:
Scene: Childcare Centre
Date: 23th April 09
Players: Gong Gong, Nek, Keith and Jess
I had some work to clear up and cos AA was waiting for me, we couldn't go get the children in time. Thus, I got AA to call Gong Gong and he readily agreed to fetch the 2 evils from childcare.
Halfway driving down AYE on our way home, we received another frantic phone call...
Gong Gong: A! Keith disappeared!
AA and Me: =S *urgh*
Me: He's probably at the lift in the CC or he's gone to the toilet.
Gong Gong: OK OK, I'll check. (asks nek) here got lift? where? (sounds of walking)
AA and I started to get a bit worried...
After another five minutes of driving,
AA: should be ok right? Since dad never call again, means he found him?
Me: Should be?
After another five minutes, the phone rang again
Gong Gong: He went home on his own. Mum called me and say he appeared on the doorway. Aiyah! made me search high and low for him here...
AA and Me: EH?! BACK HOME!? ON HIS OWN!?
Gong Gong: Anyway, he safe at home already... You all going for yoga class right?
AA and Me: We come home first. Need to lecture him a bit first.
Got off the phone from Gong Gong.
AA: better call home to check if he's really safe home.
Me: ok.
Called and Gong Gong picked up the call!
Gong Gong: he's back la... Ms B found him standing outside all quiet. If not for next door neighbour come home and hear them going in, won't have discovered him there (heng ah! If never discover him= we all will be still searching for him at CC!)
Me: oh ok, we come home first. Cannot just let him run away like this, must scold him...
Gong Gong: oh yeah hor. (to Keith) Naughty boy arh! Cannot run off on your own, must wait for Gong Gong...
Me: *sigh*
AA: Smart enough to find his way back.
Me: But dunno how he crossed the roads on his own. Perhaps teacher has taught him how to do so, but still dangerous for him to wander off like this mah...
AA: Yah, is not right.
Once we reach home, Keith smiled at us but we gave him quite a tongue lashing.
Me: Keith! How can you run off on your own?! Made us all worried...etc
Keith: (teary, sad face) *hugs*
Me: cannot like this, it dangerous...You are a very bad boy...
Gong Gong: Gong Gong go and fetch you with the van, you go and walk all the way home. Aiyah!
Gong Gong: he probably followed a neighbour or someone brought him back. He don't know the way, right?
AA: Cannot be. If a neighbour brought him back, they would ring the doorbell, but no one rang the doorbell leh. Should be come home on his own.
Gong Gong: Can find his way back arh?
Mah Mah: He quite smart one leh.
Me: Should know. Sis used to walk him home. Think he can remember the route.
At this point of time, both the little girls wanna get into the action.
Jess: mummy mummy, Keith lee go and run away. But Jess is a good girl, Jess follow Gong Gong, never run away.
AA and Me: Yah la, Yah la. Good girl.
Jess: Keith bad boy.
Gong Gong: He ran off when I was signing out for the 2 of them.
Nek: Yeah. One minute he was there. Then I turned round he gone already.
Me: Nek went with Gong Gong to fetch them arh?
Nek: Yeah. And we searched round.
Gong Gong: Yah lor. Searched round the place. But in the end, he ran back here.
Me: *faint*
Gong Gong: Funny arh, the teachers at the CC never restrain him and let him run.
Me: His bad habit. Usually he runs out, he'll wait for us. But maybe today he see you all fetch, so he thought walking back.
Keith's quite lucky that sis wasn't home today, else think he won't be let off so easy.
After another round of scolding, we hope this will be the last of these acts...
