After a talk with the rest of the family, we decided that it was better to send mum off to the nursing home that processed our applications faster, as time was running short for us and there didn't seem to be any indications that the maid was coming soon.
So in the morning, I readied my cheque and went off to be the "maid" for the day. When I got there, there wasn't anything for breakfast and sis was just making up some oat meal for mum to eat. So I went on to make some pancakes for breakfast. Halfway, I got mum up from bed for breakfast and settled her in to bed again while the pancakes cooked.
Y and dad got up and finished their breakfast before they leave for work. I then cleaned up while attending to mum's beck and call for little things like arranging the pillows and placing the items in the correct positions, etc.
We waited around for Mrs B to arrive to take over mum but it seems that she was delayed and only arrived close to 11+am.
In the meantime, I had a talk with sis and considered ways of handling the new maid when she arrives. When Mrs B arrived, she set about cleaning and bathing mum for the day, after which she went on to do exercises with mum.
So sis and I continued the discussion about how to plan the time table, etc.
At about 12, we went out to get lunch for everyone. It was unforunate that it started to rain at that moment and the umbrellas we took out were not effective against the rain.
In the end, after going one round to the coffeeshops about 10 mins walk away (the nearest food centre was closed for renovations till August), we managed to make it back home with enough food for everyone, but all wet. I changed into sis's loan clothing, but mum started complaining that we should have brought a big enough umbrella, etc.
I was much annoyed when mum told me that the pair of pants that sis loaned me made me look even fatter than I am already.
Anyway, after the lunch, Mrs B continued to work on mum while we took a break and waited for her to finish. Then, we arranged everything and went off to grab a cab downstairs. The journey was long and it took us a while to find the nursing home, which was nestled on top of the hill within the SATA building.
It wasn't the easiest place to find, but luckily it was still close to dad's working place and he can visit before or after work.
It wasn't till 3+ that we managed to get mum inside and settled in... *hiaz* At the first instance, she was already crying when we attempted to leave. It's really quite heart breaking to leave her there
... but if we leave her at home, we're really worried about dad's well being.
Mum doesn't realise the strain that she's causing dad and demands for his attention 24/7, even after he had done a full shift's work.
And dad's no longer young, and his health is also not as good as before. Although we can all take turns to look after mum, but lodging her at the nursing home makes it easier for us all, even though it wasn't an easy decision.
