Summary:Why did she have to listen to his half-brained excuse for an idea?
A/N:Not mine never will be. Much ♥ to
lone_pyramid for letting me write and post this as well for beta'ing it.
Why, oh why had she listened to his warped sense of logic?
"I think you should kiss me."
Warning! Warning! Danger Zone, Bad Idea! Her brain had screamed at her, but she had been to shocked-and curious if truth be told-to listen.
"Don't tell me you're not curious."
Don’t answer that, just end the conversation now… But she hadn’t. She had let him share his half-brained theory with her and she had listened. The worst of it was she had gone along with it.
That’s why she now found herself sitting in a debriefing with his team the next afternoon staring at his lips. The same thing she had yelled at him for doing just yesterday, causing this whole mess.
He licked his lips and moved his eye’s from Rodney’s talking form in front of the screen to Elizabeth, catching her staring at his lips. A small smirk appeared on his lips, and a deep blush formed on her cheeks. She pulled out of it fairly quickly by an annoyed Rodney who could tell his team’s and leader’s attentions were wandering.
“Well I guess we’re done here. Unless any of you would like to actually listen to what I have to say?” Rodney asked.
“Sorry Rodney. It was all very interesting. All of you please have your reports for me by tomorrow morning. You can take the rest of the day off.” With that said Elizabeth quickly gathered up her files and was making for a quick get away when John called out to her.
“Dr. Weir I was hoping to have a word with you,” he said as the others left the debriefing room.
“What can I do for you Colonel?” she asked as Rodney left and the doors to the room closed behind him. “John…” she whispered.
“Elizabeth.” he said in strong but gentle tone. He walked to her as she walked backwards, trying to get away from him. She knew what kind of mess they would be in if she allowed him to get as close as he had been the day before.
“You ran off yesterday before we could talk.” As the last words left his mouth she felt her back hit the wall; her eye’s closing with the realization that she was trapped.
“I-Well…” She had no clue what to say. It was true she had practically run all the way to her office almost seconds after Crap had left his mouth.
“Are you mad?” he asked seriously backing away a few steps and allowing her to relax.
“No. I was just…” She trailed off again finding her shoes extremely interesting.
“Shocked.” He finished for her. She looked up into his eyes and saw that he too had felt the same way about the kiss. Seeing this she felt emboldened to tell him how it had made her feel.
“Yes. It wasn’t- It hadn’t been what I was expecting. I thought that we would…”She moved her hands trying not to saying it, hoping he wouldn’t make her say it.
“Kiss,” he said as if talking to a child. A small blush crept up into her cheeks again.
“Yes, and it would mean nothing. That what I felt about the kiss was nothing more than curiosity and once your little “experiment” had been performed we could go back to normal.”
“Is that what you want?” he asked in a soft voice, avoiding her gaze.
“No,” she whispered. “And that’s what scares me.” He looked up, found her gaze and held it as he stepped closer to her again. Soon he was standing so close she was leaning against the wall for support, afraid being in such close proximity to John Sheppard would make her knee’s give out.
“Good,” he whispered as he leaned in and brushed his lips against hers.
“Neither do I.”
