lunch time game
i emailed russ seeing if we were going to be the final two again for a 3rd straight day. today we had 8 players. russ has be at meeting in a bit and he wants to get blinded out. first hand is dealt and russ makes a raise. he gets 4 callers. flop he bets. turn he bets and he has one caller. river all in, he gets no callers. i put him on high pockets and i was right K-K.
ponce, a filipino dude plays there. he took 2 folks quickly. then i took out armand. then ponce took their boss. then i got this one guy with the nut flush. so i came down to 3 handed. russ, me, and ponce, but russ is still in this meeting. so we play 2 handed. i started at chipping at ponce cause i caught on the flop would bet and he would lay down. i got K-K and made a double the blind raise. he called. flop was J-7-8 rainbow. i bet and he just called. turn was a K, giving me a set. i bet the same amount and he just called. river is a 4 i bet the same amount and he went all in, so i called. i said i got the nuts and he shows his 5-6 for a straight. damn.
lesson learned here is that i got greedy. i knew i had the best hand till the river. i should have read that he was drawing. i never looked at him till he said all in. all the bets prior were made without looking cause i knew i had the nuts. if i would have looked at him, i would have said to myself he is on a draw and went all on the turn, he wouldnt have called. it could have been russ and i again. lesson dont be greedy.
