Title:You're the storm that I've been needing
Rating: PG
Pairing: Sawyer/Juliet
Wordcount: 571 (just a quick ficlet!)
Summary: Written for lostpuffin who requested heat, shivering/quivering (and Desmond, but I apologize - this idea stuck and just would not let go!). Just a little moment in Dharmaville for Sawyer and Juliet.

He paces anxiously in the hallway, glancing out the front door as torrential rain floods the cement steps and cobblestone path leading up to the house. A grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup from a can lay cold on the kitchen table, prepared nearly an hour ago. His dirty dishes are resting in the sink but he leaves them and moves to the couch by the window, resting a paperback in his lap but keeping his eyes fixed outside as the rain continues to pour and thunder rumbles in the distance.

Vincent barks sharply and trots over to him, bowing in a low stretch before launching himself up onto the couch and curling up at Sawyer’s feet. He scratches the dog’s ears absentmindedly as he pushes the curtains back to get a better look.

“Where is she, huh Vincent? Where’s Juliet?”

The dog looks at him with doleful eyes and settles a heavy paw on his knee, urging him to keep playing with his ears. Sawyer finally turns to the book after another ten minutes, just to be startled when Vincent leaps to his feet and barks joyously, bounding towards the door.

He’s standing when the door slams open and Juliet steps in, shivering and trembling terribly in her dripping clothes. He grabs a towel from the linen closet and hurries to the door, draping it over her shoulders and pulling her into a tight hug to keep her warm,

“Where the hell you been’?” He demands.

Her teeth chatter and she clings to him, soaking his paisley shirt, as she explains,

“Damn van broke down on the way back, I thought I’d fixed it so I sent the other guys back earlier and I had to fix it by myself to get home.”

He softens, rubbing her arms vigorously in an effort to get the chilled blood flowing again,

“Made ya’ dinner. It’s cold now but if ya’ wanna take a shower I’ll warm it up an’ have it ready.”

She nods and darts down the hall, stripping off wet clothes as she goes. He waits until she’s disappeared into the bathroom to move to the kitchen and turn on the stove, dumping the soup back into the pot and setting the sandwich back in the frying pan. He leaves them on low and moves back to the couch, easily settling back into his book now that she’s home safe.

She returns about twenty minutes later, bundled up in a fluffy white housecoat, and he can almost see the steam radiating from her body as she grabs the grilled cheese from the plate and sits down next to him on the couch. He drapes his arm around her and presses a kiss to her temple,

“Feelin’ better?”

She nods and replies around a mouthful of cheese, “Much.”

Vincent lets out a low whine from his spot on the floor, eyeing the sandwich in Juliet’s hand lustfully. She chuckles and tosses a piece of crust in his direction, watching him snap it up and swallow in seconds. Shaking her head as he looks up at her again, she says,

“Sorry bud, that’s all you’re getting.”

She curls up closer to Sawyer, intertwining her legs with his and pressing kisses along his jaw,

“Thanks for dinner.”

He gives her shoulder a little squeeze and she lets her head fall against his broad chest as he smiles,

“You’re welcome, darlin’.”
