I saw the macbook air and realised straight away its not destined for my lap... no firewire, basically a macbook with less connectivity, (I'd like to see someone install Final Cut Studio over wireless!),... then my boss came in today. And she was estatic. She never takes her laptop anywhere. Its an iBook g4, but a respectable one. She said she never takes it away because its too damn heavy. She's not the kind of woman to go gooey over tech stuff, but she said she'll get one while overseas soon... I've been telling her for over 12 months we need to upgrade her desktop machine (800mhz powermac), and this finally did it.
I can't remember where I got them from, but I have codecs to play divx's and xvids, etc via quicktime. If you can get those codecs onto the apple tv, surely it could play back those files? If that could be done, without sacrificing the UI or anything that bricks it, it'd be sweet. I would go out and get one tomorrow if it had a dvd-rom and built in eye-tv, cause its all well and good saying "just rent the movie" but how many years did it take before we even got the itunes store?
