Sam/Dean, New Year's - for you both in birthday celebration.
Shards of ash mingle with the confetti and bounce lightly off Dean’s head. Sam grins and pulls Dean a couple of feet back, wrapping his arms tightly around him. “Too close,” Sam mumbles and kisses Dean’s ear as the sky fills with shards of white dropping to the ground like water.
Dean lets Sam hold him back. He watches the colors explode - bright blue mingling with ruby red, lights marking the year he should never have seen.
He closes his eyes and resolves for them both to live as long as possible, and to love in all its fiery glory.
