Christmas Present Ficlets #1 - Dean/Petra

Christmas Drabble ficlets #1. These are all the Petra requests. All 100 word drabbles unless otherwise stated. (All Gen unless otherwise stated).

I wrote Unseeing back in August ’06. I feel very lucky that a year and a bit on people are requesting the same character for Christmas. I just hope you like them. I have been wanting to do another long Petra fic (my main idea: Dean is temporarily blinded) is not working so well. We shall see. In the meantime. I hope you like these.

For wenchpixie: Petra and Sam making Dean a pie.

Petra suggests baking and Sam coughs his agreement. Petra thinks she hears a smile. A distraction for them both. Stop them thinking about Sam’s lungs not working.

About Dean being out there alone.

They both get nervous without the other.

Petra tells Sam she has faith as she hands him apples to slice. She informs him that Dean can handle it, as she makes him measure out flour and sugar. She hides her worries as the salt is added; spices it with a smile as she finds the cinnamon.

Oven set; the cell rings. Dean will be home in time.

For Phantomas: Petra dreams about John. 200 words.

Petra knows it’s a dream but it feels real. It’s different to all her other dreams where she mostly senses and hears what’s happening.

In this dream she can see the house she is standing in. It smells of coffee and baking. The figure in front of her seems familiar but she can’t place him. He has a full beard and sorrowful eyes. He has the heavy voice of Dean’s father and introduces himself as John.

He tells her how he met Dean’s mother. He informs her that he’s happy, but he can’t tell her where he is. He wants her to know he’s proud of both his sons, so that she can tell them.
Petra wakes, shivering. Dean’s voice blearily asks what’s wrong and she tells him every detail she can remember. How the rooms were arranged. How the light fell onto the couch. The tenor of his father’s voice. The phrases he used.

Dean’s silent.

Petra says she’s not sure she believes it was John. She tells Dean she’s never had a dream like it.

Dean says he doesn’t know either. He promises to tell Sam and pulls her close, squeezing her tight.

Dean sleeps easier that night.

Astrothsknot gave me the prompt: Dean/Petra animal skin. I believe NC17 was the request. I found that hard in a drabble length - R was achieved, perhaps?

Dean pushes her down with firm hands. They touch her gently when she hits the floor hard. Soft fur brushes her skin, tickles the backs of her legs and arms. Dean must have gotten it.

He’s scratchy, kisses her chin, collarbone, stomach, thighs, leaving a trail of fire as he goes. He rolls her over, kisses her back. The fur’s soft under the rash.

He pushes her on her knees, slides into her. The rug rucks up under her hands, she feels it move as he sets a rhythm. She grips, moving with the rug.

Moving firmly with him. Always.

For jellicle: Petra meets Bobby.

Bobby’s not their father and Dean’s never suggested so, but Petra’s heart still beats fast when they draw up and she hears heavy feet approach. Gruff voice, but a firm hand leading her in.

Bobby chastises Dean for waking the dead with his loud radio - “and lor knows we don’t need that!” - and for forgetting some book.

Dean laughs, says he brought something better.

Petra quips, “dust from four different states.”

They all laugh. Petra hears the tension vanish.

Bobby’s not their father but has stories about young Sam and Dean and Petra quizzes him for every one.

For Rynnalyn: A fight between Dean and Petra about Christmas, and the make up! 100 words.

The argument carries out in hushed tones over crackling lines. Petra tries to keep her disappointment hidden but Dean hears it and answers it with defensive tones anyway. He can’t get to her parents in time. Too far away. Saving people.

How can Petra compete with that?

Petra points out the first meeting didn’t go well - caught in bed, after all - and he has to meet them some time.

Silence. She lets it go.

He arrives late on Christmas night when it’s time for bed, apologies and beer in hand. He charms everyone.

She’s never felt so lucky. Or loved.

For quirkies: Dean and Sam build the crib for Petra & Dean's upcoming bundle of joy!

Sam throws it out as a passing thought. Build a crib. Don’t buy one.

Dean leaps on the idea, sounds so pleased at the thought that soon it becomes a plan. Sam’s researching the best type of wood and where to buy it from. He’s finding plans and what tools they’d need. They’re sanding down pieces and gluing together joints.

Research. Prepare. Build. Argue the best course. Agree. Sweat. Laugh as they keep the secret.

Working a job that requires a labor only of love. Building the crib for his niece. Or nephew. For Dean’s family. For Sam’s family too.

For astrothsknot and jellicle: Petra’s first birthday, and how blessed Petra is. 200 words.

The cake is eaten - mostly by Dean. The presents are opened - almost all by Dean, though Sam insisted on opening the books and toys he brought. Petra’s parents have left and Petra has a few minutes to listen to Dean feed Mary the “special birthday food.” He says that to make Sam tease.

Footsteps approach. Dean sits down next to her, and he tells Mary to walk to Mommy. Again. Dean insists walking is close. Petra obediently holds out her hands, listens carefully to Mary gurgle and to Dean’s steady breaths. She must be standing, Petra guesses. She’s fine as long as Dean’s holding her. Sam’s knees brush Petra’s and they’re a circle now.

Sam gives a sharp intake of breath. Dean says, “Pet, she’s...take her!”

Petra feels Mary’s body reach hers and she clasps her hands around her, just as firm hands - Dean’s, definitely - surround hers, ever careful.

“Two steps!” Dean says delightedly. Sam and Dean fall over each other to give a running commentary of exactly how walking works. Petra listens, hugs Mary tight and lets the words sink in.

A child who’s one. A family to love. She’s lucky to have this journey, of life, with Dean.

More to come Sunday or Monday. Either the other het or the Sam/Dean ones I should think! Have a good weekend all!
