OMG OMG OMG
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/121#forumsThis game sounds amazing. Granted I just read the book and am reading the second one right now, but I just read the user reviews and it sounds amazingly balanced. And balanced the good way not the boring one, different sides will pull ahead but the game is designed to force alliances and betrayles in order to keep everyone balanced. After reading these two reviews it sounds like the person best at manipulating people and situations wins, as everyone has different favorites. I encourage everyone interested in board games to go read this. I now know why a computer game was made about the series, it seemed kind of like a random thing to be the first real RTS game out there, but with a board game that was very successful and well respected i can see why it happened.
Michael it seems somewhat similar to the game of thrones game we played at boardgame night, except with much more interesting mechanics. The Storm/turn order mechanic I thought you would especially like and may want to look into when making the tractor system for your farm board game. The hero system seems alot like game of throwns, but the sacrificing troops system I think sounds like it makes the battles more strategic. The idea that lots of pointless battles happen that are just bluffs sounds interesting too as it is not somthing I have seen in a game before. The point is that I really want to play this game now... and sense it is about Dune it might be a boardgame that Katy would play too!
I was looking around ebay and saw that there was a really old rustic looking box for 20 bucks in the uk... I don't know how much shipping would be to here, but it would be nice to have some board game here to play.
oh yes and in case people missed all the other entrys about it I also have a travel blog about being in Denmark and stuff leaving this one to be specifically about rants like this pop culture news and things that do not pertain to being 9 time zones away
