My Ships...
I've been thinking about my ships recently since
jenbachand was asking people to attempt to explain their shipping choices and the I stole this idea from a post of
holdouttrout's. This is a fairly short list of my current shows and fandoms, and certainly not exhaustive even within the shows listed. With some shows I'm watching I don't have any serious pairing preferences. These are the ones I don't fandom. Let me know if there's any shows you want to know more about even if they aren't on the list.
Chuck
Ship: Chuck/Sarah
Type: Primary
Canon? Yep, they've even kissed on screen.
Why I like them: Because they're cute and pinning makes me ship.
Additional Information: Chuck's adorably geeky smart and Sarah's more street smart so they end up making a decent team, except when Chuck's inexperience almost gets them all killed. ;-)
Ship: Ellie/Morgan
Type: secondary
Canon? Morgan's crush is legendary canon
Why I like them: Morgan's an adorable (mostly) if clueless idiot and Ellie's very sweet to him.
Additional Information: This is one of those ships where I really don't want anything to happen, I just think their time together on screen is cute.
Bones
Ship: Booth/Brennan
Type: OTP
Canon? All except for the actually being together.
Why I like them: Because Booth isn't "That Guy" anymore and Brennan needs someone to pull her out of the lab occasionally. Also, they had chemistry right from the beginning.
Additional Information: David is HOT!
Ship: Hodgins/Angela
Type: Secondary
Canon? As canon as it gets.
Why I like them: Angela can listen to Hodgins ramble without being annoyed and she can even manage to shake him out of his own little world occasionally.
Additional Information: Now if only they'd just tie off the marriage plot line already.
House
Ship: House/Cameron
Type: Primary
Canon? When they're not both denying it
Why I like them: When the writers are in the groove (and not slighting either character) House's cynicism and experience combined very well with Cameron's attention to detail and people skills. They make a good team and she's not afraid to challenge him on multiple levels.
Additional Information: The new ducklings are distracting, and boring.
CSI
Ship: Grissom/Sara
Type: OTP
Canon? As canon as it gets.
Why I like them: They have great chemistry and some of the best emotional moments on tv over the past 8 years.
Additional Information: I will not read/participate in things that break this pairing without some serious explanations.
Ship: Catherine/Warrick
Type: secondary
Canon? there was a conversation about dreams...
Why I like them: They understand each other and Warrick's always been there for Cath when she needed help.
Additional Information: I'm not down with the character assasination of S8, but they have potential.
Stargate
Ship: Jack/Sam
Type: OTP
Canon? Multiple AUs and some pretty obvious hints, but no official confirmation
Why I like them: Because Sam's smart as hell and Jack respects that and can still make her laugh.
Additional Information: I really wish AT would get over her issues. The audience is not going to stop respecting Carter is she sleeps with Jack.
Battlestar Galactica
Ship: Kara/Lee
Type: OTP!
Canon? As canon as it gets, despite both marrying other people
Why I like them: They relate on so many levels and there's so much history and passion and angsting! *dies*
Additional Information: Dee can get flushed out an airlock for all I care (she hurt Billy!) but I don't mind Anders sticking around for a little threesome action.
Doctor Who
Ship: Doctor/Rose
Type: OTP
Canon? Canon BFFs with protective and jealous tendencies and sexual tension
Why I like them: They're good for each other. She teaches him how to live again and he shows her a better life.
Additional Information: I find Nine sexier than Ten and I would have no problem with Jack joining them in either era. In fact Doctor/Rose/Jack is my only OT3.
Torchwood
Ship: Jack/Gwen
Type: Primary
Canon? More than some less than others
Why I like them: Jack needs someone to stick up to him and encourage him to continue to be a better person. Plus Rhys, Owen, and Ianto just annoyed me through most of S1.
Additional Information: As you can see I'm mostly a het-shipper, but I do recognize that Jack will flirt with anything and sleep with a very large subset of that population. I'm tempted by the idea of Ianto/Jack/Gwen given the bonding moment between Ianto and Gwen in this last episode. As far as I'm concerned Doctor/Rose/Jack over rules any Jack/Torchwood ship.
OTP vs Primary - OTPs are pairings that I will not break, at least not long term. Primary pairings are those I ship, but if canon goes another way I won't be heart broken. I'm mostly a canon follower to begin with.
