It's been a while since I posted so here's a quick update on what I've been doing.
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending
FarPoint with
nnaylime and
moyawyvern . It was the smallest and possibly the most awesome Con I've been to yet.
Bonita Friedericy was one of the 3 actor guests and she was awesome.
In person she is very much a comedienne and very unlike her current character. My photos of her are
here and there's a video of her doing a General Beckman imitation on the phone with her husband
here. The only thing I really remember about her panels is that when
nnaylime asked her to tell us something we don't know about General Beckman the response was "She used to be a stripper". The other thing to remember about Bonita is that she is AWESOME! She loved our tiaras, dubbed us the 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Tiaras', and spent extra time chatting with us.
The other guest that we went for should have been Adam Baldwin but ended up being Tahmoh Penikett.
The last time I saw Tahmoh at a Con was when he did Dragon*Con a couple years ago and he was hung over as hell. This time he was not and he made a much better general impression. If you look at
my photo set he seems to have only two facial expression though: 'thoughtful' and 'smile pretty'. :) Again I don't really have much to report about specific questions and answers, though I can embarrass myself.
Someone asked Tahmoh about whether or not he'd want to be on the BSG prequel "Blood and Chrome" which of course led to a discussion about the short-lived-ness of "Caprica". Tahmoh said he was curious why more BSG fans didn't watch "Caprica". A little while later I got up to ask a softball question about what current show he would like to be on (other than H-5-0 which had already been mentioned) and I prefaced it with something along the lines of "Well, I can only give you one fan's opinion but I didn't watch Caprica because I was disappointed with the end of BSG and turned off by SyFy's marketing strategy. I tried to be polite and general because this wasn't really the setting for a treatise but Tahmoh proceeded to ask me detailed followup questions until I had described specifics about both of those issues. I don't think I embarrassed myself too badly but I'm pretty sure I was bright red and not as articulate as I could have been by the end.
Today I got to go on a tour of FedEx Field, home of the Redskins, with
nnaylime and
uisge_beatha .
I'm not a Redskins fan but it was still very interesting to see. We got to see the Club Level lounges, the TV Broadcast Studio, the Press Box, the cheerleaders area, the locker rooms (home and visitor) and the field. I couldn't help but compare FedEx Field to Beaver Stadium (PSU's stadium) of course.
Beaver stadium is actually bigger but the seating at FedEx looked a bit nicer.
The photos set link is
here.
All in all its been a pretty good couple of weeks.
