[28] Voice Post, High Priority to all Residents

[The PDA seems to be collecting a lovely amount of acoustic resonance from wherever the Doctor is speaking. He sounds calm and confident, sure of every word.]

Econtra. All of Econtra, new arrivals, old survivors. All of you. Please. Listen to what I have to say.

All of us resent being taken from everything we know. The people we love, the places ( Read more... )

If someone is too weak to live then they should die.

R-i-ight then.

You know, I'm of the opinion if someone's too weak to live, then they should be helped.

But that's just silly-old-me.

Bravo, Doctor. Truly a rousing speech if ever one was spoken.

I can't honestly say I care much for my world or anyone there, and I'm far from being any sort of hero. If that world dies, though, so do I. If this one dies, I suppose I'm quite out of luck as well. Like it or not, I am as trapped and possibly as useless against these monsters as the rest, and as such, I see no reason to ignore that I just may have a purpose here that even my mind has yet to fathom.

I will stand with you. If not for myself, or for these worlds, then for the sake of survival.

That's Thomas, right?

I don't know you, but I'm with you. I have people to save that will never really know me. They're just children. But if the Entropi want them, they'll have to face me first.

What's your name?

Pleasure to meet you.

Jack. Nice to meet you, Doctor. I kind of wish it was under better circumstances, though.

Dylan Thomas. That's what you quoted before. Nice choice.

Ah yes. Nice young man, Dylan Thomas. Brilliant mind.

Jack? Yeah, me too. Blimey, under any circumstances but these, but what do you do?

Never give up, always take a stand. Life is life, no matter what world or reality it is. Without it, there's nothing.

The question is... why haven't they left yet? Why do they cling to this dead or dying rock when they have proven they're able to shift things from one reality to another, poking other universes, prodding them, taking things and putting them back? What binds them to this reality so that it needs to bring other realities here in pieces?

I do like you, Espio.

I don't have an answer for you yet, but trust me, I'm working on it.

Here's a thought, though.

In our reality, there is a form of energy known as Chaos. The only thing that can contain it is a specific kind of Emerald only found in a certain region of the planet Mobius. The energy absorbs other energy, infects life, drains life.

The energy can also create, grant people the power to make thoughts reality, and current theories suggest the instability of this energy is what created the Special Zone in the first place.

It can even take on and sustain its own form, often dedicated to destruction. It's warped soldiers into monsters, stolen the form of one of my friends, made the Special Zone what it is - you've seen what it looks like, I've shown you.

This energy was brought from another world, so we're talking three universes involved here. One that discovered it, one that could contain it, and a third that is it. Where did this energy come from?

What do you hope to accomplish with such impassioned rhetoric?

The residents contained here do not care for such ideals.

They're going to have to. We don't have a choice.
