Ok so it’s my first time still icon tutorial, so be nice))
From
to
1. Crop your image.
2.Duplicate it and put on Screen for it to be brighter a bit, for my image i chose - 22% opacity (if your image is darker you may need this layer to be brighter it depends)
3. For an icon to be more contrast and deep duplicate a bottom layer and put it on top on Soft Light (again for diferent images you may need different opacity levels)) i chose - 39% opacity
4.And right now its a Saturation TIme!! (YAY!!), so add a Hue/Saturation layer and set Saturation - +21
5. Add a Solid Color layer with #3b92a2 and set it on Soft Light (you can choose another color in the end, just to see in what way it will correspond with the selective coloring)))
6. Add Selective Color layer
Reds: -19//+32//+100//+18
Yellows: -100//+24//+27//+5
Cyans: +74// 0 //-55// 0
Magnetas: 0 //+20// 0 // 0
Neutrals: +1//-7//-17//+11
So here we are)) clean and nice coloring with not so much effort))
And again i suggest you to mess with colors and opacities as you want))you can also add another Soft Light Color Layer in step 5, or change some digits in Selective coloring))
As for more examples... You know it is my basic tutorial for a long time so every still icon...yes and animated icons either are made using this tutorial as a base))
