in class discussion
well I updated a journal this morning before class so now i am going to do it again....
In my evolutionary biology class today we were talking about natural selection and got into the subject of self-interests...essentially ALTRUISM which means doing something for others with no regards to ur own self interest....Darwin and St. Paul believe that there is no true altruism, that everyone does everything for their own self interest
So the class talked about it and like 98% of the poeple agreed...I was sitting there just fucking lost, how can you say that?? It kills me to believe that there is noone in the world that will do something outside of their own self interest...I absolutely disagree with this and I gave this example in class....
"We were at the club down in Daytona Beach for Spring Break and I was hanging out taking a break and I saw a guy stick his hand down my friends pants and she pushed him away but he wouldnt leave her alone. So I walked up to him and layed his ass out, my hand still hurts from it. Now I am not getting anything out of this, none of this is for me, it is for a friend who is getting harassed. Now please inform me how I was looking out for my own self interest by knocking this asshole out and fucking up my hand?"
