Divine: The Series

What’s “Divine” About?
Divine: The Series is a dark action/supernatural thriller that’s got the DNA of graphic novels, kick-ass action sequences and creepy supernatural dread all in its genetic makeup. It’s a show that wants to entertain but also make our viewers think and debate some of life’s biggest mysteries such as: is there some force beyond what we can see? Does each of us have the free will to decide our destiny or are our decisions preordained by a higher power?
Our story is about a young priest at a crossroads in his life. He finds himself reassigned to a run-down inner city mission. There he witnesses proof of the supernatural when a gravely injured man named Divine is resurrected from the brink of death. Divine has been fighting for centuries, trying to show fallen souls that they have the power to choose between good and evil. With guidance from the mission’s Deacon and Divine’s street-smart sidekick Jin, the priest must now confront his own demons as well as the dark forces that challenge Divine and threaten to plunge humanity into a dark abyss.
The Ultimate Goal
We all know that the Internet will be the next evolution in storytelling, it’s just that the guys in the old towers of power don’t know how to make it work for them. We don’t believe in geoblocking or controlling the content so traditional forms of entertainment can get their slice of the pie. The old ways of revenue generating don’t apply to the new forms, and since they’re not trying to find solutions it’s up to the rest of us to find that new business model so we can start producing the content we all want to enjoy.
And that’s where you come in. Your donations will help us film the next four episodes and complete the pilot programming of Divine: The Series but it will also provide us with the proof that the time is finally right for this form of entertainment. If our fundraising is a success, we can hold up the result and say the fans paid for one whole episode, or two, or all four, or even a whole season’s worth. Then when we pitch our business model, the "old money men" will have to listen. No one could say we don't know how to reach the new generation of enthusiasts or that our business model isn't backed by proof. If we can do that, then maybe the door will finally be open for a new, easier way for creators to make ongoing, online entertainment. Wouldn’t that be something amazing to be a part of?
Where You Come In
The first two episodes of Divine: The Series were paid for out of our pocket and shot last November. These episodes are in post-production and weekly behind-the-scenes and bonus videos are also being produced to show how we build the creatures, sets and stories for “Divine”. We get what people want and it isn't just commentaries from the director and producers.
We’re planning to shoot the next four episodes of Divine: The Series in June. We’re looking to fundraise at least $10,000 to help us carry the cost of making these four episodes. It’s going to cost us a lot more than just $10k to make these four episodes, and anything above our minimal goal will go toward the estimated $70,000+ cost to make these four episodes. We have an entire 22 episode season planned out but right now we want to show you what Divine: The Series is and get you to become a fan of the series. These six episodes are our proof of concept. If we can prove that this kind of quality storytelling can be done consistently and for far less expense than a standard television series, we believe “Divine” stands a good chance of getting picked up for a whole season.
